I feel a song coming on...

or at least a few ideas. As a songwriter for the past 25 years I've learned to trust the creative process and not get to freaked out when I go months and months, or even years without finishing a song. I've had a few Christmas song ideas this week that I hope to finish by next Christmas, and I have a notebook full of ideas on self-care that go along with my women's workshop presentation "Preventing Emotional Burnout". I'm excited to slowly add more and more music to these presentations. (By the way, if you want me to come and present this to your stake RS group, let me know and I'll send you the info.)

I am the kind of person who needs to create in order to feel alive, and music is one of my main avenues for expression.
As a multi-tasking mother of 4, my brain and my heart are often full of the day to day stuff of life, making it difficult to spend more than 5 seconds in meaningful self reflecting that songwriting requires. As my youngest gets a little more independent, and is now sleeping through the night on a regular basis, and the Home Team talk show was cancelled (due to budget cuts) I hope to have more time to reflect and share some creativity with you.

I want to hear what you do to express yourself...

Peace in '09!

Helllllooooo? Anybody out there?

I've been growing my family, growing my therapy practice, and learning how to host/produce a talk show, so music has been on the back burner for the past few years...still simmering (though I did write and record the Home Team theme song). I've been stealing a few minutes here and there to work on new songs, and over the past 3 years or so songs are starting to take shape. Many of them stem from my own personal experience, women's stories I hear in my therapy practice, and from the women's self-care workshops I've been presenting for the past 6 years or so. I am currently an "unsigned" artist for the first time in 20 years so we'll see where that takes me...Though many of my CD's are out of print, all are available on itunes.

Thanks for your continued support during my music hiatus and I'll keep you posted on upcoming concerts, appearances, talk show stuff, projects, etc.
XO, Julie
